Margaret's Butterflies

I love children and have wanted a child of my own for a very long time now. When my father-in-law told me of a story of his great great grandmother, it touched me and has remained in my memory for some time. For a few months now I have been wanting to create a blog but just could not think of a blog name for it and therefore never made it past the initial screen.

So finally, I thought of my husband's great great great grandmother and my blog name came to me. When she was around 18 years old, Margaret had a son who she named Samuel Oliver B*. The story was told that John (Samuel's father) was killed in battle around the time Samuel was born (though records are not able to confirm this). My father-in-law mentioned that Margaret loved children but only had one of her own. Margaret had a dream one day that has been handed down many years. She dreamed that from the front of her dress flew a butterfly; and from the one, twenty more arose. Then from the twenty arose such a large number that the room was filled with butterflies. She did not live to see the fulfillment of her dream; but her son Samuel had twenty children and they also had many children. Her posterity probably numbers in the hundreds by now and her influence with her one son has spread to many.

My husband is one of "Margaret's butterflies". I'm excited to say that I will also be contributing to the multitude of Margaret's butterflies. So I named my blog "my butterfly" (in indonesian "kupu-ku") because it will likely be mostly about my little one. I plan to also include many of the things that I have learned from children I have worked with in the past. While I was waiting for own little one, I have had many other children that I have been able to love as if my own even if for a short while at church, work or through friends. Loving and teaching little children is what brings me the most enjoyment in life and I hope to capture some of these joys in writing this blog.
